Q: What is Yola?

Q: What is the Yola Website Makeover Challenge?
A: It's a chance for one lucky small business owner to receive a brand new website and one talented web designer to will win $2,000 in cash. Everyone gets the chance to have fun, improve their web design skills and vote for their favorite makeover designs.

Nominate

Q: Who can nominate a small business website for a Yola makeover?
A: Anyone can nominate and you're free to nominate as many small business websites as you want.

Q: What does it take for a website to be eligible for a makeover?
A: Qualifying websites must:
» Belong to a U.S. small business and been in existence for at least one year.
» Contain at least four pages of content, including text, images, etc.
» Be only brochureware-type site - that is, no e-commerce or other functionality.

Q: Does a nominated website need to already be built using Yola for eligibility?
A: No. A website nominee can be built using any website builder or hosted on any service. However, all entries for the makeover entires Design portion of the Yola Makeover Challenge must be made using Yola.

Q: Do I need to submit my small business nomination on your application form?
A: Yes, you will need to fill out the entire application, which only contains a few fields.

Q: I know several Web sites who need a makeover. Can I submit more than one nomination?
A: Yes, you can nominate as many websites as you like, as long as they're eligible.

Q: What's the deadline for nominations?
A: All nominees must be sent by August 7, 2009 at 11:59pm PST.

Q: Is there a fee to nominate?
A: No, the contest is free for all participants.

Q: How will the small business website be chosen?
A: A panel of Yola judges will evaluate all the nominees and select one based on the reasons described by the person who made the nomination.

Design

Q: How does the design competition work?
A: We choose a small business website and you get to make it over. Anyone can participate and you're free to submit as many website designs as you wish. If your design is chosen as the winner, you receive $2,000.

Q: When will it start?
A: August. The exact date will be announced soon.

Q: Who can participate?
A: Anyone.

Q: Do I have to build the site(s) I submit using Yola?
A: Yes.

Q: What information should I use to create my site?
A: Anything. You should feel free to use the content that's already on the small business site as well as information from public sources and content that you create.

Q: Can I incorporate advanced functionality into my design?
A: No, all submissions should be brochureware-type sites only. E-Commerce and other functionality is not necessary.

Q: How will the winning makeover design be chosen?
A: The owner of the selected small business website will ultimately decide the winner based on the originality and quality of the design, adherence to the small business owner's design priorities and best use of Yola web design tools. We'll provide more details on the design priorities at the start of the design competition in August.

Q: Does the vote determine the winning makeover design?
A: Yes and no. The public will determine the top 10 finalists. These top 10 will be presented to the small business owner, who will ultimately decide the winner.

Q: Can anyone vote?
A: Yes, but if you're not already a registered Yola user, you will need to register first.

Q: When will the finalists and winner be informed?
A: The finalists and winner will be contacted in August. We'll make the exact date public soon.

Q: When does public voting begin?
A: The public voting period will begin in late August or September. We'll make the exact date public soon.

Q: Can I vote for a design more than once?
A: No, but you can get as many friends as you want to vote.

Q: What does the winner get?
A: The winning designer will receive $2,000. The winning small business will receive a brand new website worth at least $1,000.
